How to Have Lips Like the Celebrities

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

The full, pouty lips that stars such as Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox and Scarlett Johansson have are what many women today are trying to replicate. They key to making the lips looks sexy, while maintaining a natural look, is to first examine what makes a look appear “sexy.” But while women try to achieve this “sexy” look, the key to perfect lips is proportion and balance.

“Sexy” lips are characterized by their fullness, definition and pout; and must be balanced perfectly with each other. The lips must be proportionate to the face they are on -the “Angelina Jolie lips” would not look right on another star such as Scarlett Johansson, because their facial proportions are different. Likewise, a certain celebrity’s lips may not look proportionally correct on a patient’s face.

The reason that many female celebrities’ lips are so appealing is that they are full – fuller lips are commonly associated with youth and vitality. As we age, our lips lose volume and the muscle gets thinner, causing the visible portion of the lip to fall. This is why we subconsciously associate thin lips with age.

It’s very important that the size of the lower lip always be larger than the upper lip The lower lip is rarely appreciated and people think that all of the focus should be maintained on the upper lip in order to achieve more fullness. When this is done, too large and upper lip may cause lips to look “fake” and/or “duck-like.” It is important for the physician to maintain proportion between the upper and lower lips when performing lip augmentation.

The key to a beautiful appearance is the balance among the eyes, cheeks, nose and chin with the lips. Lips that jump out at us blend well with the rest of the face, to make the human eye notice them as being sexy. Hard rules and measurement are guidelines, but are no substitute for a keen aesthetic eye and an artistic sense.

The procedure that enhances the lips appearance is called lip augmentation. There are plenty of products available today that can give you sexy lips. Hyaluronic acid filers such as Perlane, Restylane, and Juvederm are excellent options for temporary lip augmentation. Other more permanent lip augmentation options exist as well, but it is usually best to start off with the temporary fillers. Remember, it is imperative to go to a specialist with an artistic vision and the ability to create the lips that are perfect for you.

Is Botox Right For Me?

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Every morning we look in the mirror, and perhaps we find something new we don’t wish to see. It could be another gray hair, or else a wrinkle under the eye that didn’t appear as pronounced the day before. Much as we would like to turn back time and revert to our more youthful selves, that time machine hasn’t been invented. Anti-aging elements and diets can help slow the process of looking older, but if you are interested in expedited results you may wish to consider Botox injections.

Before you do, however, it’s important to weigh all the options before you commit to any kind of cosmetic surgery. While Botox injections to smooth out facial wrinkles are probably the least invasive of plastic surgery procedures, there are still factors to consider. Allergies, long-term effects, the change to your face are all things you must think about. Because facial injections are typically an outpatient procedure, taking too much time off work may not be an issue, but let’s look at other questions you may ask yourself:

1) Will a younger appearance have a better impact on work? If you still work, or are in the market for a job and competing with young candidates, you may wish to present a fresher face to the world.

2) Will a youthful appearance boost my self-esteem? Think about why you are really getting Botox injections: is it to better the way you feel about yourself, or to improve what others think when they see you? Are the opinions of friends, family, and co-workers more important?

3) Do you have any pre-existing conditions that might interfere with injections? If you think you might expection a reaction after receiving Botox, confer with a plastic surgeon first.

In short, you should consider Botox to smooth your facial features if you think it would benefit you and improve your self-esteem, not because you are pressured by others to look younger. This is your body, make the right decisions for it.
