Just as it is for men in the world of business, for women in business, life is just as hard and some would say harder. I’ve started a new business and know exactly how challenging the small business enterprise can be to get off the ground. Many women feel more comfortable in an all woman environment and actually get to trust other networking partners much quicker. There’s evidence to suggest that women network better than men because women focus more on the relationship building whereas men will focus on the end result of getting the referral. Having both networking partners in line is surely bound to deliver a faster and more powerful result.
Many women running small businesses also have to juggle family life and therefore feel an affinity with other women in the same situation. It may help build rapport or it may simply just help understand the challenges but whatever the reason it helps get to that point in the relationship where you know, like and trust the other person and so are ready to start giving and receiving referrals. Many traditional networking groups have been established over decades and probably don’t fit in with family life in terms of the meeting times. Women’s networking clubs understand this point and ensure that the meeting times are at a time of day that isn’t going to conflict with the school run. This may be the difference between being able network or not.

Womens heart health is a subject that should be on the tip of everyone’s tongue, but for some reason not too many people seem to be talking about it. Unlike other womens issues that have people mobilized and raising awareness, when it comes to the heart there doesn’t seem to be too many people championing the cause. It seems as though I can’t drive anywhere without seeing a car with a pink breast cancer awareness ribbon magnet attached to it, but where are the magnets for heart problems.
Even scarier, 64 percent of women who have heart attacks and die suddenly have had no previous symptoms. It’s truly a silent killer, striking otherwise healthy people when they least expect it. Also, after the age of 40 the lifetime risk for cardiovascular disease is more than 50 percent in women. The worst part is that diagnostic tests and procedures that work well for men don’t work as well in women. This is particularly true of ECG tests, which is also known as the exercise stress test. All in all, more people need to be aware of womens heart health.

Having good self-esteem is vital to harnessing the power of your intuition in business. And here’s the catch: If women business owners ask for help from their intuition and don’t listen, their intuitive awareness may go into hibernation. If you ask and listen, but don’t ACT, then you create stagnation, procrastination and all sorts of challenges. Here are quick tips, learned over years of palm reading, for women business owners to build their self-esteem and deepen their confidence in their inner guidance.
Delete all non-essential email for one week. Answer only those emails that are personal or business related. You don’t have to unsubscribe from everything or do anything drastic. Just cut out the noise for one week. Notice your discomfort in deleting your non-essential email. (I receive hundreds of emails per day. Only 50 are business emails that need responses and by responding to those emails, I actually ADD efficiency to my life.) Notice if you feel anxious that you are going to miss something. Notice if you can’t do it this week and want to put it off to next week. Who REALLY has the answers to your life? You or a message in an electronic box? Don’t do anything - and I do mean anything - that you don’t want to do. This is different from not doing something because it’s uncomfortable or because you are scared. There is a fine distinction here. If you don’t want to do something, you know it in every cell of your body. BUT you may be tempted to do it anyway in order to: avoid someone’s wrath or criticism, be pleasing, get your way, manipulate someone or get revenge. Just to name some of the many methods of self-betrayal that I see in my palmistry practice. By making commitments you can keep, you build your self-esteem, and hence, your faith in yourself and in your intuition in making business decisions.
